Weight Loss Plans
The secrets behind affective weight loss plans? by Matt Kay
There has never been more books, Google searches or articles written on the topic of weight loss plans. Why is this the case? Because no one has figured out the answer yet! The truth is there isn't an answer in the purest sense. Everyone is looking for the number 1 weight loss plan, the instant fix, the magic pill but as you read this article today that simply does not exist! Every human being is unique and holds their own unique genetic code physically, mentally and spiritually. We are fortunate at born2move that we have a specialist coding assessment that helps identify these codes. However, if you are unable to undertake a Born-Coding Assessment there are some fundamental principles that are within all of us that you can start implementing today.
Your unique weight loss plan
Before discussing some generic solutions that apply to all of us I just wanted to highlight some of the problems with modern day diet books and one stop solutions to weight loss plans. I will reiterate the point made above; we are all unique and require different approaches! After years of research and applied practice we have come to realise people respond in very different ways in all aspects of health and wellbeing. For example, everyone has different psychological barriers, respond to different macronutrient values (carbohydrates, proteins and fats), different hormonal systems that are stressed, have different levels of lifestyle stresses and with all that in mind people react to different delivery methods in VERY unique ways. At born2move we consider all these influences before prescribing weight loss plans and it is important for you to realise that a weight loss plan that works for you could quite easily fail for someone else!
What can you do?
It is really important that you realise two fundamental points
- Weight loss is not just about eating less and exercising more. It is just not that simple! Your weight loss plan should incorporate multiple factors to achieve weight loss through optimal health.
- Optimal health is not a destination, it's a journey. Don't think that optimal health is something that takes time to achieve you can start living it today!
The goal of any weight loss plan needs to be about optimal health first. The reason this is important is for two reasons. Firstly because a lean, toned physique prospers in healthy environments and secondly sustainable weight loss will only be achieve if the body is healthy! With that said we can now look at 4 core principles that should never be overlooked in the perfect weight loss plan:
- Water: Water is the building block of life. It is how life begun and how life continues to prosper! So many people are dehydrated on a daily based, which has been linked to many diseases and ill health. From a direct weight loss point of view water is the best natural cleanser and detoxifier. This is important because the body will not let go of fat if the body is toxic. This is because toxins are stored in the fat cells and the body will not let go of the fat to keep the toxins away from the vital organs! However, not all water sources have the same powerful effects on the body so I have created a quick check list for you to following; a) Drink filtered water, b) add minerals to your water (Celtic sea salt), c) add liquid chlorophyll to your water to increase your waters cleansing properties.
- Breathing: We all live in a stressful world, which for many of us is affecting our health and ability to lose body fat. Stress is one of the leading causes of cortisol stress, which leads to fat gain around the tummy. It is typical to see fat around the belly button in highly stressed individuals so the second principle to add to your weight loss plan has to be focused around stress relief. Many people resort to stimulants like caffeine and alcohol to relieve stress and if you are the same you need to start looking at other methods. One of the best ways to de-stress is to find a quite place, preferably in nature and take 10-20 minutes every day to sit, relax and conduct focused breathing. Don't view this as time wasting as my clients that find the time to do this on a consistent basis report significant increases in work based productivity because their mind is clear and switch on!
- Purify: As well as clean water your food should also be clean and toxic free. As previously discussed your body will never break down fat if your fat is toxic. If you are not eating free range, organic or biodynamic food you are putting toxins into your body. Whenever possible eat free range or organic and if you can source it biodynamic food. One more point to note is that not only should you be eating food from naturally grown sources the food should also be from non processed sources. I basically define a processed food as being a food that has not been provided by mother nature or in other words if a food has not been either pulled or raised on the earth we were never designed to eat it, so don't!
- Balance: We commonly see extremely motivated clients coming in bouncing off the walls with excessive levels of motivation and insist that they will go cold turkey on all their indulgences and start living the most perfect healthy life. After the first 2-3 weeks the motivation they displayed in their first visit is all but disappeared and their intense craving for all their previous indulgences are rife! By week 4 they have pretty much given up the ghost and gone back to their old ways after providing a long list of excuses from the programme is not for them, time, family etc. To go cold turkey is often the worst thing you can do no matter how motivated you are! Instead take stepping stones, for example if you drink 8 cups of caffeine per day firstly cut down to 5 cups per day for the first 2 weeks, 3 cups per day for the next 2 weeks before committing to 1 cup per day thereafter.
As previously discussed the ideal weight loss plan for you is determined by your unique code. However, if you start following the above 4 basic principles you will be forming strong foundations to achieve weight loss success.
