I tend to be much more active during the winter months and originally contacted Matt for a programme to keep me fit during summer. I found his one-to-one sessions so motivating that I kept my Personal Training sessions going on a weekly basis throughout the year. Matt is brilliant at dealing with aches and pains that come from minor injuries. I had a recurrent knee injury from running and Matt worked miracles, quickly and painlessly manipulated me back into shape. I have never considered myself to be a natural sportsman but now I thoroughly enjoy my training. In retirement I am fitter and healthier than I have been for years thanks to born2move. I am hampered by the result of a serious shoulder injury but the born2move team have designed a programme which includes specific ways to strengthen the shoulder as well as to improve my fitness. It was shortly before summer 2005 that I finally decided to seek help as my weight was getting out of control, this in turn was badly affecting my health. I was introduced to born2move and Personal Training, something I thought was only for the rich and famous (which I most definitely not). But as I had tried most things I had nothing to lose. Firstly I has a long chat and evaluation with my trainer about my present health and then we conducted the Born-Code evaluation. Using this information weekly exercise plans and nutritional guidelines were given to me. These routines were particular to me and had to be adjusted regularly as my fitness and health grew. The sessions in the gym were hard but it was never dull as I was shown so many new exercises but more importantly, how to tackle them effectively. It wasn't long before I could not only feel the difference in my fitness but my weight was dropping off too! This encouraged me to stick with the programme as I was feeling so much better both physically and mentally. I can do things now that I never would have dreamed of 12 months ago. Even though the main reason for my exercising was to overcome health problems, I am now 14kg lighter and much happier. So I'd say: 'Give it a try like I did, you have nothing to lose!'

In late September I undertook the Great North Run and the following weekend participated in an extreme sports weekend which ended in a 17 mile run in the French Alps. Throughout the 6 months Matt got a 43 year old up to a level of fitness that I had not reached for a number of years and his advice along the way was invaluable. I would strongly encourage anyone to take born2move on board and would certainly not have prepared to undertake my quests without their help.
